Mike Tyson’s net worth is estimated at $35 million as of October 2026, a fraction of the roughly $300 million he is reported to have earned from boxing, but a long way up from the 2003 bankruptcy that left him owing about $23 million. His late-career revival rests on two big exhibition paydays, including a reported $20 million for fighting Jake Paul on Netflix in 2024, plus his cannabis company Tyson 2.0, a stage and screen career, and a steady trade in paid appearances.

Published estimates for Tyson vary because almost none of his recent income is disclosed by the people who pay it. Purses are reported by betting sites and promoters rather than contracts, and his share of the company behind Tyson 2.0 has never been made public. The Radar Readout below shows how the published figures compare and exactly how we built ours.

You vs. Mike

At $60,000 a year, it would take you 583 years to earn Mike’s estimated $35 million, before tax and without spending a cent. His reported purse for the 2024 Jake Paul fight ($20 million) equals 333.3 years of your pay.

Sources and how we estimated this

We start from a modest base for the years after his 2003 bankruptcy, add roughly half of each reported purse since 2020 to allow for tax, his team and training camps, then add a conservative value for his undisclosed share of Carma HoldCo and his other business income. The central values add up to $35 million. How we fact-check

The Purses: How Tyson Earned About $300 Million

Tyson’s purses grew quickly in the late 1980s, from $1.5 million for his 1986 fight with Trevor Berbick, according to Celebrity Net Worth’s purse list. Celebrity Net Worth reports that HBO signed him in 1987 to a $27 million deal covering eight fights, and that his 1988 win over Michael Spinks paid him $20 million. Wikipedia notes that he earned more than $30 million for several individual fights and about $300 million over his career.

The largest checks came in the 1990s. A Showtime deal was reported at $120 million, although the network never confirmed the figure. Celebrity Net Worth lists a $25 million purse for his 1995 fight with Peter McNeeley and about $30 million apiece for the Bruce Seldon fight and both Evander Holyfield fights in 1996 and 1997. A 1998 Associated Press investigation, as summarized by Celebrity Net Worth, found he had collected $35 million in signing bonuses and $106 million from the six fights after his return from prison. His 2002 fight with Lennox Lewis paid him about $30 million, while the event itself grossed $103 million in U.S. pay-per-view sales.

Adding up every reported purse, Celebrity Net Worth reaches about $370 million. That is gross pay, not take-home pay, and the gap between the two is the heart of the Tyson money story.

Bankruptcy: Where the Money Went

A large share of each purse never reached Tyson. Celebrity Net Worth reports that under the arrangement known as “Team Tyson,” 30 percent of his purses went to promoter Don King and 10 percent each to managers John Horne and Rory Holloway. Taxes, two divorces and an extraordinary lifestyle took much of the rest.

The spending stories are well documented. Celebrity Net Worth lists Bengal and Siberian tigers costing up to $70,000 each, a trainer for them paid $125,000 a year, more than 100 cars at one point, five Bentley Azures bought for $1.5 million in a matter of minutes, and general spending that reached $240,000 a month. He bought a Connecticut mansion in 1996 for $2.8 million, which his ex-wife Monica Turner sold to 50 Cent in 2003 for $4.1 million.

Tyson filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August 2003, with reports putting his debts at about $23 million. His $100 million lawsuit against Don King was settled in 2004 for $14 million, which went to his creditors. The IRS also kept collecting: Celebrity Net Worth reports that it garnished $6 million of his $8 million purse for the 2004 Danny Williams fight. As late as 2010, Tyson described himself as “totally destitute and broke.”

The Rebuild: Hangover, Stage Shows and Appearances

Tyson’s second act began in entertainment. He played himself in The Hangover in 2009 and returned for The Hangover Part II, roles that reintroduced him to a younger audience. His one-man stage production, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, was directed for stage and screen by Spike Lee, and his 2013 autobiography of the same name became a New York Times bestseller.

He also hosted the interview podcast Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, and his name has long carried licensing value: Nintendo’s Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!, released in 1987, sold more than a million copies. Celebrity Net Worth reports that he has charged $75,000 for a two-hour party or corporate appearance in Las Vegas. None of these revenue streams is disclosed in full, so we model them conservatively.

The Comeback Fights: Roy Jones Jr. and Jake Paul

The exhibition era turned Tyson back into a big earner. His eight-round exhibition with Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020 ended in a split draw and, according to Celebrity Net Worth, paid him $10 million.

The bigger payday came four years later. Tyson fought Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on November 15, 2024, in a bout streamed live worldwide on Netflix. The fight was first set for July 20, 2024, but was postponed after Tyson had an ulcer flare-up. Paul won by unanimous decision.

Netflix's official trailer for Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson, the series that built up the November 2024 fight.

Promoters did not reveal the payouts, but CBS News reported that Tyson was expected to take home around $20 million, with Paul expected to earn about $40 million. The audience was enormous: Fortune reported that, according to an internal Netflix memo, the bout peaked at 65 million viewers watching at once. At 58, Tyson matched the $20 million he was paid for beating Michael Spinks in 1988.

A planned exhibition with Floyd Mayweather Jr., agreed in September 2025, has not happened. Celebrity Net Worth reports that it was postponed after Tyson fractured his hand in training, and that disputes involving the promoter led to federal litigation, so we include no income from it.

Tyson 2.0 and Carma HoldCo

Tyson’s most valuable asset outside the ring may be his cannabis business. Carma HoldCo, which he co-founded in 2021, launched Tyson 2.0, a brand selling flower, edibles and pre-rolls. Forbes notes that one edible is shaped like Evander Holyfield’s bitten ear, and that Carma also owns Ric Flair Drip and Future’s EVOL line. Forbes named Tyson to its 2025 Cannabis 42.0 list.

Celebrity Net Worth, citing Forbes, puts Carma’s 2024 revenue at $200 million, mostly from Tyson 2.0, and says the company has raised $15 million from investors. Tyson became Carma’s chief executive in April 2025. Because Carma works largely through licensing and has disclosed neither a valuation nor Tyson’s ownership share, we value his stake at $10 million, with a range of $3 million to $25 million.

Real Estate

Tyson’s property moves show how far his finances have recovered. Celebrity Net Worth reports that he bought a Henderson, Nevada, mansion in late 2015 for $2.5 million, and in January 2025 he paid $13 million for a six-bedroom Delray Beach, Florida, estate of more than 12,000 square feet on 2.7 acres. He also bought a 2.2-acre lot in a community with airstrip access for $1.7 million. We treat these homes as part of the net worth already counted in our income lanes rather than as extra wealth.

Why Other Sites Say $30 Million

SourceFigureDateNotes
Celebrity Net Worth$30 millionOct 2026Notes a peak of $300 million; does not value his Carma stake
ForbesNo figureApr 2025Profile lists him as a Carma co-founder and large shareholder
Net Worth Radar$35 millionOct 2026Modeled; range $20 million to $60 million

Our figure is close to Celebrity Net Worth’s. The difference comes mostly from Carma HoldCo: a company reported to have $200 million in yearly revenue is likely worth something meaningful to one of its largest shareholders, even with his share undisclosed. If his stake proves small, his net worth is nearer $28 million; if it is large, it could reach about $50 million.
